Thanksgiving on the Charleston Coast

Thanksgiving is a time to gather, reflect, and give thanks — and what better place to celebrate than the Charleston Coast? Trade crowded kitchens and cold weather for ocean breezes, Southern charm, and the sound of gentle waves just outside your door. This year, create new family traditions with a Thanksgiving getaway to one of our beautiful Carolina One Vacation Rentals. With mild fall temperatures, stunning beaches, and plenty of local dining options, Charleston provides the perfect setting for a holiday you’ll cherish.

Why Choose the Charleston Coast for your Thanksgiving Celebration?

Picture this: you wake up in your oceanfront vacation rental, the sunrise painting the sky in shades of orange and gold. You sip your morning coffee on the balcony as waves roll ashore and the salty air fills your lungs. Instead of rushing around to tidy your house or prep for guests, you’re already surrounded by family, relaxation, and coastal beauty.

On the Charleston Coast, Thanksgiving feels slower, sweeter, and more meaningful. Spend your morning exploring the beach or taking a bike ride through your island community. When it’s time for dinner, you can either prepare your favorite holiday dishes in your fully equipped kitchen or let Charleston’s local restaurants do the cooking for you. Many nearby eateries offer special Thanksgiving menus with a coastal twist — think shrimp and grits alongside roasted turkey and sweet potato casserole.

After your meal, take a peaceful stroll along the beach, the sand beneath your feet, and the stars just beginning to shimmer over the Atlantic. It’s a Thanksgiving memory your family will never forget.

History Meets Relaxation on Sullivan’s Island

Sullivan’s Island offers a quieter, family-friendly beach experience with tons of character and history. Enjoy long walks on wide, uncrowded beaches that are perfect for shell-hunting and swimming. Grab lunch at local favorites like Poe’s Tavern or The Obstinate Daughter. On the 4th of July, the Island’s beaches become prime viewing spots for the Salute from the Shore flyover. While Sullivan’s Island doesn’t host its own fireworks show, you can easily head to nearby Patriots Point in Mount Pleasant. They have one of the area’s biggest displays over the harbor.

A Peaceful Lowcountry Escape at Edisto Beach

If you’re looking for a laid-back July fun with a classic South Carolina feel, Edisto Beach is just the ticket. Spend time at Edisto Beach State Park with the family, hike shaded trails, and visit the interpretive center. Enjoy kayaking or fishing with the help of numerous local outfitters, ready to guide you through the marshes and rivers. Edisto often hosts small-town festivities for the 4th of July, so be sure to check for family-friendly celebrations. The whole family can connect this summer by trying out the Morris Island Boat Tour. Morris Island is full of undeveloped land that is a gem to explore. The only way to get to the island is by boat. Charleston Riverdogs Baseball Game

Another fun activity that the whole family can enjoy this summer is going to at least one Charleston Riverdogs Baseball game. Fun for all ages, let the kids learn the “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” song, get those delicious hotdogs, and have a good time together. If you have little ones who are big ball players, check out the camps they offer at the stadium. Think of the new memories you’ll make as you watch a ballgame or two.

Explore the SC Aquarium

There is an exhibit for everyone from seeing the Carolina Seas, The Shallows, the Touch Tank, and even the Coastal Plains area. Even Kids Coast has different activities on how the water filtration happens at the aquarium. This would also be a great activity to check out on a rainy day.

They will be shutting down the streets to run safely on the roads in the morning. Getting to the race is easy peasy as there will be shuttles to get you to the start line. Plan Your Labor Day Vacation to the Charleston Area Today

Labor Day weekend seems like it’s a long time away, but it will be here before we all know it. Now is the perfect time to start planning for your Labor Day vacation with the family to kick off the end of the summer together. Staying in one of our Carolina One vacation rentals will allow you and your family to stay close to the fun. Let’s look below why you should plan your vacation to the Charleston area for Labor Day weekend today.

Spend the Day on the Sand

One of the best things about spending your Labor Day vacation is being able to take advantage of the low crowds on the beaches. This year let the kids build enormous sandcastles and let the teens play catch the frisbee. There is something for everyone to do and enjoy a day at the beach. Don’t forget to bring the essentials with you on the beach, such as a beach umbrella, towels, sunscreen, a book to read, and the toys for the kids. Relaxing and spending time together is just what every beach vacation should be about.

Try a New Restaurant

Vacations are the best when it comes to not feeling like cooking for the family in your vacation rental. This year take the family out to a new restaurant that may have just opened or just trying one you’ve never eaten at before. If your family likes seafood, then give The Kingstide a try on Daniel Island. They have a classic raw bar that includes oysters and stone crab claws, and they offer the classics such as lobster rolls and even a steak. Many new restaurants are opening up this summer and fall that you will try maybe a few on your vacation.

While there are many other fun things that you can do this Labor Day this year, we wanted to share these few with you. If you haven’t booked your Labor Day vacation yet, now is the time. We don’t want you and your family to miss out on a great vacation to end the summer and begin a great school year!
