Your Guide to Free Fall Fun on the Charleston Coast

As summer ends and fall starts to arrive, September is one of the most charming times to visit the Charleston Coast. The weather remains warm but is more comfortable than the peak summer heat. Crowds are smaller, and there are plenty of local events that bring the community together. When you stay in a Carolina One vacation rental, you can enjoy the best of the season from the comfort of a private beach home. From Folly Beach to Isle of Palms, here’s why you’ll fall in love with the Charleston Coast this September.

Surf, Stroll & See Scenic Views in Folly Beach

There’s no better time to explore Folly Beach than in the fall season, with fewer crowds, relaxed vibes, and more than six miles of beach to enjoy. Spend your days simply walking the beach, splashing in the waves, or watching surfers catch those waves. Enjoy the cooler temperatures compared to the much warmer days of summer. It’s time to enjoy this low-key destination this fall while you make new memories with the family.

Historic Trails & Sunset Moments on Sullivan Island

On Sullivan’s Island, you can discover the quiet beauty while enjoying the crisp fall air. Hike the nature trail from the Historic Sullivan’s Island Lighthouse to historic Fort Moultrie. Immerse yourself in maritime forest scenery and coastal history all without spending a dime. Then cap off your day with a sunset picnic at Station 12 with your camera in hand to capture those postcard-worthy views.

Natural Escapes & Wildlife Wonder on Edisto Beach

Edisto Beach remains a sanctuary in the fall. Here, you can explore the beautiful Botany Bay Heritage Preserve, a vast, undeveloped natural area renowned for its stunning beaches, diverse wetlands, and rich wildlife. Additionally, there is no cost to explore this breathtaking beauty, allowing you to enjoy it at your leisure. Take in the unspoiled ambiance of Edisto Beach State Park or ride along the scenic island roads with the family.

Sunrises & Local Markets in Isle of Palms

The Isle of Palms is ideal for soul-soothing fall moments. Catch a sunrise or sunset with a dramatic sky from your vacation rental. Build sandcastles, enjoy a picnic at the park, browse a local farmer’s market, or even visit the Charleston City Market for fresh local finds. Make a delicious dinner or breakfast with some of the local items you found at one of the markets.

Relax and Reconnect at Wild Dunes

When you are on vacation at Wild Dunes, you don’t need to spend a dime to unwind and relax. Take a peaceful bike ride or walk within the resort, through the dunes, or even on the relaxing beaches. It’s the perfect low-key complement to a fall getaway to have a refreshing, serene getaway that is completely free. What better way to spend your fall vacation on the beach?

Whether it’s serene beach walks, nature trails, or sunrise vistas, these fall activities offer authentic and local charm with no entry fee. Let Carolina One Vacation Rentals be your plush and private home base as you discover these lovely, cost-free moments. Each destination offers something unique in the fall with cooler breezes, golden sunsets, and a slower pace than at home. Your stay with Carolina One makes it easy to enjoy the season’s natural beauty without spending any money at all.

Celebrate Father's Day by the Sea on the Charleston Coast

Ditch the crowded brunch spot this year at home and give Dad something he wants: a weekend of memories on the Charleston Coast. Make Father’s Day unforgettable with sunrise adventures and unique local experiences only steps away from your Carolina One vacation rental. Here’s a look at unique ways to celebrate Father’s Day beach by beach below.

Surf Lessons and Sunset Cruises on Folly Beach

Folly’s electric energy is perfect for the dad who is always up to trying something new. Sign up for private surf lessons with a local pro, or rent a beach cruiser and explore the island on two wheels. Top off the day with views of the marshes and waters that Folly Beach offers with a sunset dolphin cruise during the golden hour. Stay in a laid-back Folly Beach vacation rental steps away from the ocean, and discover your gateway to adventure and relaxation with the family.

Fishing and Shell Island Picnics in Edisto Beach

For those looking for a quieter, more nature-focused getaway, Edisto Beach offers unique eco-tours and fishing excursions. Private boat tours to Shell Island are available. Shell Island is a remote, unspoiled barrier island accessible only by water, so be sure to bring a cooler, packed lunches, and make it a Father’s Day picnic to remember. Our Edisto Beach vacation rentals offer access to boat landings, marsh views, and the stillness that Dad will appreciate this year.

Hidden Bunker Adventures on Sullivan Island

Dads who are history buffs will be in awe over the underground bunkers you’ll find exploring Fort Moultrie. After a day of exploring the fort, grab some ice cream from the ice cream shack while walking on the beach. When you stay in a Sullivan Island vacation rental, you’ll notice the quiet moments you’ll have with the family. What more could any dad ask for than exploring the bunkers with his family?

Beachfront Golf & Crab Hunting at Wild Dunes

Did you know that Wild Dunes offers its guests world-class golf? But instead of playing a round or two of golf, mix it up with a sunset putting contest or even a game of bocce ball on the beach. At night, head down to the beach with a flashlight and let the kids do some ghost crab hunting. A Wild Dunes vacation rental gives you access to the resort amenities so that Dad can hit the greens in the morning and enjoy the beach in the afternoon with the family.

Paddleboarding & Pier Strolls on Isle of Palms

Isle of Palms is such a fun and relaxing place to spend Father’s Day with the kids. Find something new to do, such as paddleboarding at sunrise. If that isn’t what you’re into, then rent a golf cart and cruise the island streets with the family. Check out local shops and restaurants to listen to live music and walk the pier with an ice-cold treat. Carolina One offers family-sized rentals with pools, allowing you to enjoy the perfect Father’s Day together on Isle of Palms.

Book directly with us at Carolina One Vacation Rentals for the best selection, excellent rates, and a team of local experts who genuinely care. Now is the time to give Dad the best gift that he’ll remember for years to come. What are you looking forward to this Father’s Day along the Charleston Coast?

One of the features that many families feel is the heart of a home is the kitchen, and we couldn’t agree more. Each larger home has well-equipped kitchens like you living in a dream. They are the perfect spot for preparing your holiday feasts and cherished gatherings. Imagine cooking Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner in a kitchen you would only see in a celebrity home. Share those old family recipes passed down through generations with your kids. You’ll have the perfect setting to create a new family tradition.

Check Out That Game Room

A great thing every family can look forward to when going on vacation is a game room. We know many of our guests don’t have a dedicated game room, so we have homes that do. Several homes offer something for everyone, from billiards to video game consoles. These spaces are a great way to have friendly competitions while sharing laughter as you play together. Think of the lasting memories you’ll make as you bond over an excellent game of Life.

Book Now for Summer!

Can you believe summer is just around the corner, and now is the time to book? The Charleston area is the place to be this summer, with many fun events, the beach, and just getting away for quality time with the family. Staying with us at Carolina One vacation rentals will keep your family close to the fun on the beach. Let’s look at why now the best time is to book your summer vacation below.

Book Now Before It’s Too Late

Marine landscape with oceanfront neighborhood in Charleston, South Carolina during low tide. Morning view with palm trees between houses for vacation rentals and footprints on a wet sand.

One of the main reasons you are booking your family summer vacation now is that we may not have the complete inventory as we did at the beginning of the season. Many families love to wait until the last minute to book their trips, but plan and be prepared this year. No matter your family’s size, we have the perfect vacation rental that will fit your family’s needs and wants.

Activities

Another great reason why booking your summer vacation now is the number of activities available. When you vacation in the winter, not all outdoor activities may be available for you to enjoy. The summer months offer our guests more to enjoy without worrying about whether they are open or closed or if the water will be too chilly. Summer means the nightlife is hopping on Folly Beach, and the sun sets later, allowing you to enjoy more time outdoors. There is something for everyone in the family to enjoy and experience during the summer this year in the area.

You should book your summer vacation for many other reasons, but we wanted to share these with you. Now is your time if you’re ready to search for your perfect Carolina One vacation rental. We can’t wait to hear what you’re looking for the most on your next summer vacation to the Charleston area!

Beach Day Essentials

Do you have a vacation planned to stay at the beach here on the Charleston Coast? If the answer is yes, let us share a few essentials you’ll need. Staying in one of our Folly Beach vacation rentals will keep you and your family close to the fun. See below for the essentials you’ll need to complete the perfect day at the beach!

The Essentials

Sunscreen – This is important to always have with you anytime you’re on vacation at the beach. We always recommend that you wear at least 30-SPF and that it’s water resistant. Reapplying throughout the day helps keep your skin in a burn-free zone.

Red and Yellow Beach Umbrella in sand with water in the background. Blue and white cooler and blue, white and yellow volleyball.

Beach Umbrella – A beach umbrella is vital when you are at the beach to allow you and your family shade. Having the kids keep out of the sun at times of the day can be an excellent thing for them. Plus, it can also keep your drinks out of the sun from getting too hot too quickly.

Reusable Water Bottle – Having a reusable water bottle for everyone in the family can keep your drinks cold all day. If you have an oceanfront vacation rental, you can go back in and refill as often as you’d like.

Lounge Chairs and Umbrella at the Beach with the sunsetting in the background

Beach Chairs – Bring a beach chair per person in the family can allow you all to sit and relax. No need to sit in the sand as you each lunch, enjoy some sun, or just a way to relax by the waves.

Beach Towel – Just like a beach chair, having a beach towel to dry off after you take the kids into the waves to play. Let the kids pick out their towels and place them on their beach chairs.

First-Aid Kit – A first-aid kit is an excellent addition to your beach essentials as you never know if you’ll need it.

Outdoor beach cart wagon on a sandy beach near the ocean. Family vacation

Beach Wagon – This is not essential, but it can help bring things down to the beach. Load it up with the beach chairs, essentials – you’ve done all the hard work easy peasy.

Many other things can be considered essential to your beach day, but we wanted to share these. If you haven’t booked your next vacation to stay in one of our Carolina One vacation rentals, now is the time. We can’t wait to hear what you packed as an essential for your perfect beach day!
